What is biodynamic bodywork?
Your body knows how to heal itself. As your biodynamic therapist, I help support that process by allowing the health and vitality inherently present to move more freely throughout your system. Utilizing the biodynamic approach, I seek to listen to the healing resources present within you and allow them to guide the session from start to finish. My training involves the development of a refined and cultivated sense of listening, which allows me to hear the body as it dictates where to focus, the pace and depth of the work, and the presence to bring to the session. I bring conscious attention and awareness to health pooling in concentrated spaces within the body. By following where health presents itself, these quiet hubs begin to shift, change and transform, bringing about resolution of tension, discomfort, and other adaptive strategies the body has maintained to cope with the experiences life has brought forth.
I utilize this approach within both biodynamic massage, as well as biodynamic craniosacral therapy. Each modality has its own techniques to work with the healing resources of the body, with both sharing the common goal of supporting the body in utilizing these resources for optimal health and vitality for the recipient. You may notice sessions having an effect on your total health and wellbeing - in mind, body, and spirit. Because this work is rooted in dynamics fundamental to healthy relationships - including trust, presence, awareness, and open communication - our work together will develop over time to allow us to interface more deeply with your system as it shifts over time.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Utilizing the biodynamic interface, biodynamic craniosacral therapy sessions create room to allow the deep, quiet spaces within the recipient to be heard and witnessed. Treatment generally takes place fully clothed on a massage table, with the client laying face up for the duration of the session. Tuning into these quiet resources of vitality within, as your therapist I will place my hands in specific locations on your body, listening, relating with, and being guided by the information presented by the body. Generally the pressure applied will be light, but at times can become quite deep, in accordance to the needs the body presents in the moment. Hand placement is often maintained for long
periods of time, as the body is given space to deepen, unfold, and express itself. Sessions often leave clients feeling deeply relaxed, nourished, seen, witnessed and listened to. Over time and the course of several sessions, you may experience resolution of long standing health challenges, decrease in physical aches and pains, increased vitality, shifts in emotional patterns, and evolution of spiritual concerns. Biodynamic craniosacral therapy is especially effective in supporting the entire nervous system, treating conditions such as neck pain, migraines, TMJ, fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and various forms of trauma.
biodynamic Massage
Biodynamic massage combines the interface of biodynamic craniosacral therapy with tools borrowed from deep tissue and Swedish massage. Sessions involve skin-to-skin contact, oil or lotion, and the recipient undressed in a typical massage protocol. Each session unfolds uniquely as the practitioner tunes into the resources of health present within the body, allowing these resources to guide the practitioner’s pace, contact, pressure, vector, and presence throughout the session.
Vigorous movement may give way to moments of held quietude, relationship to pain and restrictions may shift, and a deeper sense of wholeness and health may be contacted. Recipients can anticipate leaving the session with a deeper connection to their inner landscape, greater ease and fluidity of movement throughout the body, and a more quiet inner presence than at the start of the session.
